Abstract

The paper deals with important physico-chemical properties of iron ore, its location and various tests such as shatter, tumbling, cold or hot crushing, decrepitation, reducibility, porosity, bulk density, specific gravity, softening temperature, swelling index and proposed tests like temperature programmed reduction and softening point determination all of which play some role in the selection of the ore and burden preparation for blast furnace operation.
