Abstract

The vapour phase reduction of chromium chloride by hydrogen on a graphite substrate has been studied systematically, and a coherent chromium deposit has been obtained at a chloride formation temperature of 950°C and substrate temperature of 1000°C with hydrogen and hydrogen chloride low rates of 2 1/hr and 0.2 l/hr respectively. The coating thickness increases with prolongation of reduction period linearly. (Shri A.K. Saha, Senior Scientific Assistant; Shri R.N.
