Abstract
This paper presents the results of precision die-forging based on the work carried out in Metaz Works, Praha. Precision die-forging has the advantages of good surface finish, dimensional accuracy and ability to forge all types of bevel gear wheels more economically than by conventional method of die-forging. The various factors affecting the precision of forging after the forging operation change in the die cavity, dimensions of the initial semi-finished product, type and precision of the forging machine. Besides these factors, the forging technology, chosen, which may be classified into several groups viz. forging in closed dies, extruding, die forging (forging in finishing impression and in cold state), influences effectively the precision of forging. The technology, merits, demerits and applications of these methods have been presented in the paper. (Dipl. Ing. J. Benda, Skoda Expert, Czechoslovakia)
