Abstract

TILL a few years ago, Indian Foundrymen did not have at their disposal adequate technical data relating to indigenous bonding clays useful for foundry purposes. The Indian foundries used to import bentonite from overseas and it is not surprising if this is still done on limited scale. The National Metallurgical Laboratory has, therefore, striven over years to explore, investigate and demonstrate the need and acceptability of Indian bentonites in Indian foundries for synthetic sand practice and furthermore, open avenues for its export overseas.
