Abstract

Electrokinetic and settling studies of rutile pigments have been carried to interpret its dispersion behaviour in polyacrylic acid solutions of average molecular weights 2k, 5k and] Ok. Dispersion of the colloids are well observed in the polyacrylic acid solutions at higher concentrations but not substantial at lower concentrations under the study. At the lower dosage, it is due to the electrostatic stabilization but steric forces predominates over higher dosage of PAA irrespective of the molecular weight under the study.
