Abstract

The electrochemical behaviour of 1060 aliminium alloy in various concentration of ethylenediamine was investigated using potentiostatic technique at 35oC. It was found that 1060 aluminium shows passive nature in all the studied concentrations. The plausible mechanism for the passive nature has been suggested in term of lone pair of electrons present on nitrogen atom of amino group. The curves drawn for both cathodic and anodic polarisation showed the maximum polarisation of 1060 aluminium electrode in 0.1% ethylenediamine.
