Abstract

The paper describes the production of MnO3 from Indian molybdenite concentrates by soda-ash roasting. The effect of the various experimental parameters, such as roasting temperature, soaking period and quantity of soda-ash, has been studied to optimise the molybdnum recovery as Na2MoO4. A molybdenum recovery of greater than 99% has been obtained under the optimum conditions. High purity MoO3 has been produced by incorporating carbon adsorption/desorption step prior to conversion of Na2MoO4 to MoO3.a
