Abstract
Metallurgical coke briquettes are produced using waste coke fines and processed pitch/resin as binder. Briqueting of waste coke fines helps in reducing the problem of storing of fine waste materials and in turn helps in reducing the environmental pollution problem to a greater extent. Coke briquettes produced in bench scale and also in industrial scale are of adequate properties matching well with the characteristics of foundry coke. The effect of various parameters like briqueting pressure, size of raw materials, percentage binder addition etc., on the properties of briquettes are discussed.
