Abstract
The available resources of non-ferrous metals in India, their applications, from status of technology and the status of research and development in the Indian context are reviewed. The influence of market, trade and government policies, particularly in the context of the liberalization of the economy are discussed. The projected future demand of these metals and the scope for and means of improving the technologies are highlighted. Attention is paid to aluminium, copper, lead, zinc, titanium, magnesium, vanadium, gallium and ferro alloys.
