Abstract
Processing of defective nickel-plated parts for recovery of nickel and replating of objects by stripping play a vital role in environmental management as well as conservation of materials. In chemical stripping, the nickel-plated (bright and dull) steel samples are immersed in the stripping solutions for various time periods. Effect of inhibitors, oxidising and chelating agents have been systematically studied. Processing of defective nickel-plated parts by chemical stripping is simple and economical as it leads and causes of rejection of nickel-plated parts as well as some commercial aspects are discussed in this paper. Some practical tips for actual users and future trends are also described in the paper.
