Abstract

The effect of synthetic aggregates on calcium aluminate mix (CA:CA2: C12A7 = 2:7:1=C= CaO, A=Al2O3) was studied over a range of temperatures. The three aggregates used in the present study were synthesized from fly ash, beach sand sillimanite and kyanite by reaction sintering with calcined alumina. The compressive strength results of the heat-treated castable briquettes prepared from the above calcium aluminate mix and aggregates are discussed in the paper.
