Abstract

Experience shows that many products and processes developed in the laboratory do not see the light of day due to inadequate information and lack of systematic approach in their commercialisation. The goals of R&D are (1) to develop new technology/process, product or (2) to improve an existing technology, process or product. While this is so, it is equally important that R&D is backed by a constant evaluation of the economic feasibility of these processes and products once they are developed. This back-up is provided by preparation of feasibility studies/reports followed by detailed project reports which thus form the backbone of transfer of the know-how to entrepreneurs. This paper discusses the various aspects involved in preparation of Fr's/DPR's and tries to suggest a format for the same.
