Abstract
Carbon and sulphur plays an important role in the quality control of ferrous metals in the production of steel, cast iron and ferro-alloys. All modern steel industries or any ferrous metallurgical processes therefore require a rapid and accurate determination/estimation of the above elements. Keeping this in view, a comparative study of the methods available for the determination of both the elements is taken up and reported here. The merits and demerits of the methods used have been highlighted.
