Abstract

The constitution of three Indian Chromites of different chemical compositions were studied by X-ray and petrographic methods in raw state as well as in fired condition with increasing addition of magnesia and subsequent firing. This resulted in a change of lattice parameter up to an optimum addition of magnesia. Above this limit there was no further change in lattice parameter. The extent of reaction of magnesia with chromite in a chrome-magnesite brick could be thus judged by a study of the lattice parameter of the chrome grains in the brick. (Mr. M.R.K.
