Abstract

Cold pressure welding technique is used for joining nonferrous wire. Copper and aluminium alloy (Al-Mg-Si) wires were selected for this work. After welding by cold pressure welding machine, these were subjected to total immersion in 1(N) NaCl solution, 0.1 (N) HCl and exposure test in moist chlorine gas. Corrosion rate, loss in mechanical and electrical properties were determined. Optical microscope, SEM and EDAX were used.
