Abstract

The electrical power distribution system of the heavy integrated metallurgical Pilot Plant in operation at the National Metallurgical Laboratory has been discussed in the paper with particular reference to assessment of plant loads and their characteristics and effects. Power system requirements and design features have been considered in the light of future power demands to ensure flexibility of the system to adapt itself to higher loads expected with the expansion of completion of the plants. Safety devices, earthing practice and plant lighting have also been briefly described. (Mr. H. Singh, Senior Scientific Officer, National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur)
