Abstract
The conventional methods of metal forming by forging, rolling, extrusion, wire drawing, pressing and deep drawing can be carried out either in hot or cold condition. A knowledge of the physical principles governing the metal forming processes combined with the study of the conditions in diverse aspects of mechanical metallurgy. Recent advances in the knowledge of the flow of metals in forming processes like extrusion has made it possible to develop the latter to a stage of highly efficient metal working process leading to its wide adoption in industry, specially in the non-ferrous field.
