Abstract

Different processes for nickel extraction from lateritic nickel ore are reviewed. Based on the ore characteristics and the metal content the choice of process has been selected. The ammonia leaching process was the earlier development of work and various studies has been made. The other lixiviants such as sulphuric acid was also tried in pressure leaching. With the development of solvent extraction technique. The roast-reduction ammonia leaching solvent extraction technique is now the widely accepted process for nickel and cobalt extraction from the lateritc ore.
