Abstract
The woodchar has been used as reductant cum thermal energy source in tribal iron making since the inception of the process. The basic principle of biomass (wood) production elucidates that biomass is a renewable source for thermal energy and it is a sustainable reductant for tribal iron making. Compared to fossil fuels, its application has several merits and limitations.
