Abstract
In this paper a 3-D mathematical model has been attempted with a view to improving the cell efficiency in the Hall-Heroult process of aluminium smelting. It this regard magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) play important role and so far in the literature a derailed mathematical model taking into account all the electromagnetic parameters is not available. Electrical potential. current density. magnetic flux density and MHD force fields including interfacial phenomena between electrodes/electrolyte and electrolyte/molten aluminium have, thus, been incorporated in derivation of proposed model
