Abstract
De-sulphurisation of irons, containing different amounts of sulphur with fusite was conducted in acid and basic lined ladles. Desulphurization in acid lined ladles was erratic due to the interaction of iron and or manganese sulphide from the acid lining. The efficiency of desulphurization in basic lined ladle was observed to depend on the initial sulphur content. The physical properties of the iron improved after desulphurization.
