Abstract
The present work deals with a novel chemical precipitat-ion biomimetic process for synthesis of Hydroxyapatite (HAp- Ca10 (PO4)6(OH) 2) using carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC), calcium nitrate tetra hydrate Ca (NO3)2·4 H2O and diammonium hydrogen phosphate salts (NH4)2HPO4 as precur-sors dissolved in de-ionized water at room temperature. We obtained the three dimensional block structure of the as-synthesized HAp. The crystalline phase, chemical composit-ion and crystallite size of the obtained samples, at various CMC concentrations were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). With increasing cmc concentrat-ion the crystallize size is decreased with ~ 2 nm.SEM image shows that the as-synthesized HAp particle is encap-sulated on CMC matrix. The obtained material is mostly used as bone grafting process.
