Abstract
This study investigates the beneficiation of low-grade Banded Magnetite Quartzite ore from Southern Indian
belt, utilizing liquid-solid fluidization techniques. The research focuses on evaluating the performance of
the separation process by analyzing the effects of various operational parameters, including feed size,
bed height, overflow tap height, and superficial velocity, on the grade and recovery of concentrates. A
comprehensive hydrodynamic analysis was conducted to determine key parameters such as pressure drop
and minimum fluidization velocity, which are critical for optimizing the fluidization process. The ore was
characterized through chemical analysis and mineralogical studies, revealing a composition of 33.21% Fe
and significant amounts of SiO2% and Al2O3%. Experimental results demonstrated that the efficacy of
the beneficiation process is significantly influenced by the size and density distribution of feed particles.
The findings provide valuable insights into the operational conditions necessary for enhancing the grade
of concentrates, contributing to more effective fluidization technique strategy. This work underscores the
importance of understanding fluidization dynamics in the optimization of valuables recovery process
from low-grade BMQ iron ore.
