Abstract
Numerous processes have been developed for the production of alumina from bauxite and bauxite clay and are under continuous research development all over. The objective of these processes is essentially to economically produce alumina of high purity, suitable for its subsequent reduction in the aluminum electrolytic cells. The alumina for cell feed should be sufficiently pure, as otherwise the impurities in the alumina would enter the metal and affect its purity and properties.
