Abstract

The deterioration of metallic materials with special reference to the corrosion of metals and alloys under different climate conditions has been a long-standing problem. corrosion is a spontaneous process of transition from a higher to lower energy level brought about by chemical and physical processes . The chemical agents involved in atmospheric corrosion are moisture ,salts, acidic gases etc. in the atmosphere whole the physical agents include heat, sunlight, wind, solid particles etc. As the corrosion is an electrochemical process, presence of moisture on the surface is one of the most important criteria that determines the corrosion rate.
