Abstract

The inhibiting effect of tetrabutylammonium iodide on the corrosion of mild steel in methanol-HCI solution at different temperatures has been investigated. The inhibition efficiency, corrosion current density, exchange current density, open circuit potential, effective activation energy, entropy change, enthalpy change, and free energy change suggest that chemisorption is involved in the corrosion inhibition process. Adsorption occurs according to the Langmuir isotherm
