Abstract

Basic isotopes with sufficient choice of half-lives and energies along with the development of highly selective and sensitive detectors offer a non-contact, non-destructive, compact, inexpensive, specific and flexible, tool for research applications and process control systems. The use of isotopes has led to considerable improvement in efficiency and economy. These factors have led to their widespread applications in metallurgical research and industry which include studies of corrosion inhibition mechanism, diffusion in liquids and souls, segregation effects, .equilibrium in slags, nonmetallic
inclusions in steels, mixing of metals, isotope dilution, friction, wear and the measurements of moisture and liquid levels in close container
