Abstract

Metallic specimen consists of very fine constituents which cannot be seen through naked eyes. These consti-tuents can be seen only at higher magnification say 25X and above. Macrostructures in contrasts, are those feat-ures which can be seen through naked eyes. In order to see microstructure, a metallic specimen undergoes a surface preparation consisting of polishing (mirror finish) foll-owed by etching in suitable reagent.
