Abstract
The Maton rock phosphate ore slimes (India) all passing 37 um were successfully floated using conventional reagents.
The reagent, dosage was found to be quite different from what is practiced in the plant for the coarse feed. Flot-ation recovery from a synthetic feed of "slimes" and relatively "coarse fraction" (1:1) was not satisfactory. Adoption of a "Split Conditioning and Combined Flotation (SCCF)" process resulted in marked improvement in flot-ation performance of the synthetic feed. The improvement in metallurgical results was attributed to the presence
of reagentised slimes which help in flotation of coarse particles because of modified frothing characteristics
and also due to the hydrophobic interactions between reagentised coarse and fine particles.
