Abstract
The National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur after an extensive research and development work, has developed a non blast furnace process for smelting of lead and has named it as NML-ALNAMA process of lead smelting. The pro-cess involves metallothermic reduction of lead concentrate and is based on the principle that a more reactive metal serves as a reductant for extraction of a less reactive metal from its compounds.
