Abstract

This paper deals with two typical case studies on the corrosion behaviour of steel reinforced aluminium conductor (ACSR) in sulphur bearing industrial atmosphere (CS2, SO2 etc.) and aluminium conductor reinforced with aluminium alloy NML-PM2 (ACAR) in coastal environment. The results showed that E.C. strands of both ACSR and ACAR exhibited greater degrees of deterioration of properties due to pitting as compared to the NML-PM2 strands.
