Corrosion of metals and alloys exposed at Jamshedpur

Abstract

The paper describes the programme of research on atmospheric corrosion of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys under way at the National Metallurgical Laboratory since 1955. A brief description of methods of preparation and mounting of the specimens and technique used to evaluate the corrosion rate is given. Corrosion rate data of two ferrous and five non-ferrous metals have been discussed with respect to the climate and pollution, nature of attack and nature of corrosion product formed. (Mr. S.
