Abstract
Investigation of the power supply through the electrodes of an industrial furnace producing ferro-chromium showed significant imbalance in the power at the three electrodes. This was corrected by correcting the positions of the electrodes. This resulted in con, siderable reduction in the specific energy consumption. This trial highlighted the role of balancing the power supply through the electrodes in optimizing the specific energy consumption.
